What is a denture, and who is it for?

A removable denture replaces missing teeth — partial or full — and can be taken out to clean. It helps you chew, speak clearly and smile with confidence again, and is a great-value option that works in many cases where an implant or bridge isn't convenient.

The dentist assesses your gums, ridge and remaining teeth, then chooses the right denture base — value acrylic, thin and strong metal-frame, or a flexible type with no visible metal clasps. It usually takes 2–4 visits to get a denture that fits well.

Even one missing tooth affects more than you think

The longer it is left, the more complex it can get — replacing a missing tooth helps preserve your bite and your smile.

Harder to chewYou can't chew fully and may avoid certain foods, affecting digestion and nutrition.
Less clear speechGaps between teeth can make some sounds harder to pronounce.
Lost confidenceA visible gap makes many people reluctant to smile or speak.
Neighbouring teeth driftAdjacent teeth gradually tilt into the gap, affecting your bite and the opposing teeth.

Frequently asked questions

Which is better, acrylic or metal-frame?
Acrylic is affordable and easy to adjust, ideal for first-time wearers. Metal-frame is thinner, stronger and more comfortable with less bulk. The dentist recommends by your mouth condition and budget.
Does it take long to get used to a first denture?
At first it may feel awkward — speaking or chewing can be tricky and there may be sore spots, which is normal. We schedule adjustments to improve the fit; most people adapt within a few weeks.
How much does a denture cost? Can I pay in instalments?
An acrylic partial denture starts from 2,800 THB per piece, metal-frame 15,000–20,000 THB and flexible 8,000–11,000 THB. The price depends on the number of teeth and base type. 0% instalments up to 10 months.
How do I care for a denture?
Take it out to clean after meals, brush with a soft brush, and soak it overnight as your dentist advises. Come for check-ups on schedule to adjust the fit and care for your gums.
What is a denture?

A denture (prosthesis) is an artificial tooth replacement the dentist makes to restore missing natural teeth — bringing back chewing, speech and the look of your smile. It comes as removable and fixed types, chosen by how many teeth are missing, the condition of your gums and ridge, and your budget.

Removable dentures

A removable denture can be taken out to clean. Partial dentures suit people who still have some teeth; complete dentures are for a full arch with no teeth left. Bases come in acrylic, a thin and strong metal frame, or a flexible type with no visible metal clasps.

Fixed prostheses

A fixed prosthesis stays attached to teeth or implants and isn't taken out — for example a bridge, which uses the neighbouring teeth as supports, or a crown placed over a tooth or an implant. They feel close to natural teeth and suit people who prefer a firm fit without removing anything.

Full dentures — with and without anchors

A conventional full denture rests directly on the gum ridge, held by the ridge shape and saliva — an economical option.

An implant-supported full denture (overdenture) attaches to several implants, so it fits more firmly, chews more confidently and moves less in use.

When is a denture worth considering?

People who have lost anywhere from a single tooth to a full arch, whose existing denture is loose or damaged, or who aren't ready for an implant, can come in for an assessment so the dentist can plan the denture type that fits their individual case.
